Our house is only 5 years old a modular house that has a set up for an venmar %Relative Humidity D.Humite Relative system . The previous owner never got it cause the motor was to expensive. We live in the White Mt area in New Hampshire. I don't seem to have a problem during the summer just condensation on all the windows in the winter. When we got the house there was some mold on the window cills i thought it was just dirt cause they weren't that clean. Turns out it was black mold I cleanned it all and it hasn't returned as long as i wipe down the windows every day in the winter. We bought a dehumifier it has helped alot but it only good for one room i move it around but we saved to buy the venmar. Then i stumbled on to this site looking for venmars and wanted to make sure before i spent alot of money on this motor that it will fix the problem. From thing Ken had written I am not so sure So please help me out to understand the right way to fix our problem. Thank you

You need more fresh dry air ventilation to purge the pollutants in your home. During cold weather adequate fresh air will also remove the excess moisture in your home. You already have an erv and the most practical solution is fix it. Operate continuously (high speed) until the windows clear. Then reduce air flow to maintain dry windows. This ventilation rate should be maintained whenever the windows are closed. This rate of ventilation purges polutants and renews oxygen. The problem is that ventilation with closed windows during the wet time of the year requires dehumidification to maintain <50%RH. <50%RH avoids mold and dust mite growth in your home. Dehumidifiers are for indoor moisture problems with outdoor temperatures of +60^F. Some of our dehumidifiers are set-up to provide provide enough fresh air ventilation for winter humidity control and provide dehumidification during the wet seasons also. Get a good %RH meter from radio shack or Wal-Mart to monitor. How much is a fan motor? Keep us posted. Thanks Ken
