I just installed the advance in my crawl space a couple of days ago. Here is some info on my installation. The crawl is 1400 sf and 6' tall. All of the earth is covered and the vents are closed. Because of the location of the AC condensation pump, I had to install it on the right side of my house with the intake pointing towards the very back of the house with no obsticles in front of it. The RH level according to the cheap hygrometer I purchased is between 55% and 57%. My wife, who is very sensitive to odor, still smells a mild musty odor. The odor has however gotten milder. Here are a couple of questions that I need answered...

1) Should I purchase another pump so I can locate the unit in a more central location?

2) Should I purchase a better hygrometer?

3) How long does it take to dry out an area of this size?

Thanks

Rectangle spaces are not sensitive to the dehumidifier location.

2) Should I purchase a better hygrometer?
Register your warranty on the Santa Fe and we will send you another hygrometer.

3) How long does it take to dry out an area of this size?
Wood and masonary material dry slowly. Over the next several weeks the odors will subside. <55%RH is adequate to control mold growth.

Keep us posted on your results. Thanks Ken

Ken, What exactly do you mean, that "Rectangle spaces are not sensitive to the dehumidifier location."? Thanks

Open space like retangular crawlspaces allow moisture to move freely throughout the space. Being located in one corner of the crawlspace will not hinder humidity control of the far corner. Thanks Ken
