I have noticed that there is a small puddle of water under my HC and now I will have to pull it out of my crawl space to inspect/repair has anyone had this type of problem with the pan leaking?

Two most common problems are: Make sure the hose lies flat without loops. Slipping a plastic pipe over the plastic hose get the hose lie flat. The other problem is that the insulation on the bottom of the drain pan allows air to get between the cold pan and insulation. I assume the hose is properly traped as per instruction. Check the posted Santa Fe HC manual under the literature site. Occasionally users set the %RH very low which may cause slight condesation. 50-55% is adequate to control odors. Keep us posted. Ken

Thank you Ken. Since you are familiar with the HC let me ask a couple of questions.
Is the drip pan the actual cover for the bottom of the unit? In other words if I were to remove the drip pan would I be looking inside the unit?

The drip pan seems to be sturdy & well made have you ever heard of one developing a leak?

Thanks for your replys

The pan is the bottom of the unit. There should be 3/8" in. of insulation on the bottom of the drain pan. If missing, condensation will form on the exterior pan. Setting the unit on top of foam board will also fix the problem. Call the service department, 800 533 7533 for assistance. I am not aware of any leaking drain pans. Keep us posted, Ken.

Thank you again Ken.

I have been able to peek under the HC and one end of the insulation is loose. I can temporarily suspend the unit from the floor joists and slip foam board under much easier than removing the whole unit and trying to dry out and reattach the 3/8" insulation that came with the unit. I am pretty confident that your advice will cure my problem.

You may fix the problem by using some silicon cauk to reseal the loss insulation to the pan. This should eliminate the condensation problem. Keep us posted. Ken
